Ravinia is in Highland Park. When we got there my dad gave the lady our tickets. Before the concert at Ravinia we ate at a fantastic hot dog place or, like I like to call it hot dog heaven. After that my family and I had ice cream at an ice cream stand right next to the hot dog place inside Ravinia. We had our seats in the pavilion. We could of sat in the grass with our picnic blanket but it was crowded. When the concert started I sat next to dad in the seating arena. I sang all the songs but I had to leave early because I had an ear infection. I totally loved going to Ravinia. They don't only have ABBA. They could have your favorite singer or band just wait.

Oberweis By: Spencer V. I don't remember what flavors of ice cream I ate the last time I was there with my mom, dad, and sisters because I go there a lot. I do remember that I had a hard time choosing because they have a ton of unique flavors. (They don't just sell ice cream, though. They also sell lemonade, skim milk, chocolate milk, and other drinks too. My family has Oberweis milk delivered to my home!)

On about half of the tables in Oberweis, there is a chessboard with chess pieces. I started to play a game with my dad the last time I was there, but when I was eating my ice cream, my sisters knocked over all of the pieces! The bar has a dance floor and a singer that lets you dance to a really good song. The place where you can get married is upstairs. The party room is where you can have a meeting or a birthday party in fact I'm going there for my birthday party to eat. I know my mom will be able to tell my family what to order because she works there! When I went to the bar room I paid the singer one dollar for the great singing. Also the bar had a television. The thing that was funny was that there was a baseball team playing called the Phillies. Whenever I have a celebration I'm spending it at Philly G's!

Lifetime Fitness by: Monika Z. First we went rock climbing, it was challenging and it was hard. I made it to the top! Then we went to play basketball, it was my mom and sister against my dad and I, we won. There was also a place to play soccer but we didn't play because personally we don't like soccer that much. Finally my favorite part was when we went swimming. There were two water slides. One is open and one is closed. I went down both. My sister and I were playing on the slides and racing each other, my mom was swimming and my dad was reading a book. I hope we go back soon.

The Rainforest Cafe by: Emily R. When we got there, there were fake animals everywhere, a fake alligator, giraffe, and even a snake! When we went inside, it was really cool! There's a HUGE fish tank. Two smaller tanks are connected with a tube to get to the other tank. We also saw fake vines everywhere to make it look like a rainforest. When we got to our seats, we automatically began looking at our menus. Then, the waitress came and took our drink orders. My friends and I ordered Sprite, and my friend's parents ordered Coke. We then saw that they had really cool light up cups that you can take home and they served our drinks in those! Soon we ordered our meal Just then, we heard thunder! The lights flashed! There was a "thunderstorm" going on! Some time later we got our food. It was awesome! When we finished our food we ordered a dessert called The Volcano. It was ice cream, brownies, and hot fudge shaped into a volcano! We finished that five minutes after we got it since their food is so good! After that, we left. I was so glad I got to go to the Rainforest Cafe.

Tsukasa by: Ananta S. We sat at a square table. Guess where the chef cooked? Right in front of us on the table! Each table had its own personal chef! The chef was amazing! First he did some tricks like making a big flaming fire that was on the stove which was at least five ft. high and out of nowhere a "train" appeared made out of onions and smoke was coming out of the first onion! He asked for a volunteer to do another trick and choose me. He put a raw egg on a spatula. He held my hand holding the spatula. We flipped the egg but it did not crack! After that the chef cooked a wonderful and delicious dinner. It was the world's best restaurant food ever! We didn't have to go on Saturday but since we did there was an awesome magician. He is funny, makes balloons, and does amazing tricks! I know all of this because when I went there with my siblings, parents and grandma he did all of these unbelievable tricks. The magician made me a jumping balloon mouse and he did this trick with my grandmother's ring. We were all so amazed! Once the magician left I was kind of bored but that was not a problem for long because near the entry there is a whole shelf full of these little fun portable games that you bring back to your table. I didn't play very long because our food came right away. We ordered two pizzas, 1 pepperoni and 1 cheese since they are famous for their pizza. I personally like cheese better than pepperoni but I'm sure the pepperoni was great too! I had a slushy and popcorn to enjoy the movie, then when I was at my seat the usher who worked there went up and down the aisles and asked if we or anyone needed refills on drinks and asked for popcorn refills for free. I was so surprised! Another thing I did at the movie theater was play arcade games. I played Pac Man, and it was really fun. Then we went outside and saw army vehicles from the Vietnam War. You could not get in them, but you could touch them. There were tanks, trucks, and Hummers! We moved back inside into four new rooms that had a bunch of cars. There was an Easter Bunny car, a hot rod, and even a monster truck. They had a lot of cars from movies too. When my Grandma and I were looking at the monster truck my Grandma bumped me into the monster truck's wheel. That hurt! My Grandma said we had to go home. I wanted dessert but my dad had something else planned instead. We went to the arcade and I got 968 tokens! I cashed them all in candy! I would love to go back!!!!!

The Jelly Belly Factory by: Dominic F. That is the sound of the train in the Jelly Belly Factory. There were pictures of famous people like Albert Einstein made out of jelly beans, not paint!!! We got to see how they made jelly beans. When we got off the train, we got free jelly belly samples like apple, bubble gum, cherry, strawberry, ect. The Jelly Belly Factory is enormous!!! There is even a car shaped like a jelly bean! It was so awesome! I went with my grandma and my sister. We went to the gift shop and it was big too! The best kind of jelly bean is the belly flop. When I was there they were on sale!!! Next time I go there I wish I would have more fun and more samples.

The Lake County Discovery Museum by: John R. I loved it. It was so much fun. First, I got to put on old Chicago Bears players football pads. Next, I took cool pictures with the animal artifacts. We got hungry so we ate lunch in the park. There was a big statue of a life size mammoth in the park. Plus, there was a man made beaver dam that kids could crawl into so I did. After that, we watched a movie about Walter Peyton and his records in a theater for 10 people. Finally it was time to leave the museum. I think the Lake County Discovery Museum is one of the best museums ever.

The Marriott Theatre by: Noah J. When I went there, there was a long line to get in. When we finally got to our seats, we watched the play called the Nutcracker. The Nutcracker had a cool stage that is actually a machine that turned into stairs. After the play, the audience asked the actors questions. I got to ask a question twice. I noticed that the theatre was kind of small. Instead of seats in front of the stage, they were surrounding it on all four sides. I sat at the second to last row in the first section that came in to view after I walked out of a hallway. The theatre's lobby was kind of pretty. It had a crystal chandelier, a nice rug, two large staircases that move away from each other and then meet at the top, and a seating area with a television. The Marriott Theatre is a cool place, (but all I got to do was watch a play). When you come to Lake County, you should go to the Marriott Theatre.

Chicago Botanic Gardens Halloween Fest by: Vittorio B. The first thing I say was Frankenstein with bouncy shoes. He was standing at the entrance but he didn't scare me! Then I saw the monster from The Black Lagoon eating a leg. I went on the other side so he couldn't get me. After that we went to decorate pumpkins. Mine had a bunch of faces and lines. It was cool. Then, Fred the vampire, came in and told us to come to his show. After that we saw the magician. He was balancing on a ladder and was juggling with bowling pins. We were thirsty so we got a drink. It was delicious. After that we got a free sensitive plant! We saw a scientist. Then we went to play games and I won a bunch of prizes. The last thing we saw before we left was the spooky mini trains. It was listed as one of the U.S.’s top 10 destinations. There are many fantastic places you can visit in Gurnee.

You can stay at KeyLime Cove which is a hotel and water park. Besides KeyLime Cove there is Culvers, which has really good hamburgers and ice cream. There is also KFC, which is connected to Long John Silver’s. Also there is McDonald’s and my favorite Starbucks. Also in Gurnee you can find Great America. Great America is a theme park and a water park. One of the biggest reasons people come here is Gurnee Mills. It has a ton of stores, restaurants, a movie theatre, an arcade and a ice rink.

What I Like About Gurnee by: Anthony Woodland Elementary School

I live in Gurnee, IL. Here we have some very good restaurants. There names are Friday’s, Su Casas, Culvers and Olive Garden. We also have one of the best hotels in the world. It is called KeyLime Cove.

There are some other hotels like Holiday Inn and Country Inn. There’s two pretty good malls called Hawthorn and Gurnee Mills. The two best things in Gurnee are Great America and KeyLime Cove which is right behind Culvers.

Next to Culvers is KFC and in front of that is Starbucks. Chipotle’s is right by Toy’s R Us, McDonalds and Lone Star. A little further down is Gurnee Mills and the movies. Some more restaurants are Portilos and KFC. That’s what’s good in Gurnee.

What I Like About Gurnee by: Willow Woodland Elementary School

I live in Gurnee, Illinois. It has been listed as on of the top 10 destinations to visit. If you want to go somewhere fantastic, you can go to Six Flags Great America, Gurnee Mills or KeyLime Cove. If you’re looking for great food you can to Kaisers, Culvers, Sukasa, Chipotle, and Golden Corral.

If you go to Six Flags you can to in entrances. One of the entrances is on Washington St. I suggest going on the Washington St. entrance because the other 2 entrances are normally very crowded. If you go on a hot summer day, I also suggest getting there early so you can one of the first people to get WET!!!!! If you go from October 21 or something Fright Fest starts. But yeah there are lots of fun things to do at Six Flags.

Another 2 places you can go are Gurnee Mills and KeyLime Cove. Gurnee Mills probably has about 250 stores. Gurnee Mills also has a lot of places to get food. KeyLime Cove has lots of rooms for people who want to stay for a few days. KeyLime Cove even has a water park inside.

For great food you can go to Kaisers, which is just about a half a mile from Jewel Osco. You can go to Culvers to get what you want. If you get a kids meal, you can get free ice cream with one topping. You also can go to Sukasa even though that’s about 25 min away from Gurnee, but it is worth it because they cook Japanese food right in front of you. And finally you can go to Golden Corral. At Golden Corral you can go and get what ever you want.

So these are some places you can go while you are in Gurnee, Illinois.

What I like about Gurnee by: Luke Woodland Elementary School

There are many things to do in Gurnee, IL. It was listed as one of the top ten places to visit in the U.S. Many of the things are within a radius of five miles.

One of the elite places to go is Six Flags Great America. You can get in with a pass, or you can pay the admission. Once you go into Six Flags, you can see one of the newer rides, Superman. Then, the sidewalk splits into two and goes separate places. Once you get in to the great depths of the park, there are way more things to do, There are entertainment shows, places to eat, rides and much more. After a long day at Six Flags, you can go across the street and save some money by going to Chicago Red Hots. They have good sandwiches, and you can get ice cream there.

One of my favorite restaurants is Potbelly’s. It’s right by Noodles Inc. They have good sandwiches, and it’s always fresh. It’s cheap, too. Right down the street is Gurnee Mills.

Gurnee Mills is one of the biggest destinations in Gurnee. The mall has a movie theatre, and many places to eat.

Right down the street from Gurnee Mills is the Hunt Club Community Center. They have rock climbing, open gym, and many classes to take. Another part of it is the pool. It has twisty water slides, and kids play areas. It’s perfect place to be in the summer. Way across town is the Warren Newport Public Library. It is one of the biggest libraries in the area. It has plenty of books, and it has an area to study. It is convenient because the high schoolers can just walk there.

Over by Potbelly’s is Borders Books. They sell a great variety of books. They also have free wi-fi. You can get books for reading, studying or looking at the pictures. They sell CD’s there, and you can listen to previews of the songs. Those are just some of the fun places in Gurnee.

Painted Penguin by: Grayson R. It is ratticle! There are people there that will guide you around the farm. You can’t miss all the cages filled with amazing birds. There is even one with a kangaroo! You can go into the snake house they have rattle snakes, and many more. Be careful to not tap on the glass! Sometimes it is loud because of all the rattlesnakes. The last thing I did there was look through a telescope for fake animals! After I found them we tried to track them down and get closer look. If you ever come to Elawa Farm, you won’t want to leave.

What I Love About Gurnee by: Brooke Woodland Intermediate School

I live in Gurnee, IL. It is listed as a popular destination. There are places you can visit like Six Flags. Also Hurricane Harbor, KeyLime Cove, Marcus Theatre, Gurnee Pool, and Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club, Aeropostle, Abercrombie, Holster, American Eagle, and Game Stop, also Zumeiz and lastly Hot Topic. Fright Fest at Great America is thrilling because you can ride rides, and get chased by people in frightful costumes. In Marcus Theater there is food you can eat like drizzling sizzling butter and a pinch of salt. At the Gurnee Pool there are kids rising to the surface to take a breath once in awhile and kids going down the drop slides and water body slides.

Libertyville Theatre by: Brian H.
