It may take some imagination to envision a winery located in Lake County versus California or France. However, Rudolph Valentino DiTommaso and wife Vivian make their dream come true daily and are producing medal-winning wines right in Long Grove!
You can see the 6000 vines and 19 different varieties of grapevines on a vineyard tour. Learn all about Marechal Foch, Seyval Blanc, Dechaunac and many more grapes that grow well in our climate. And it’s all about the taste and time that produces a fine quality product. Discuss what type of barrel – French Oak or American Oak or a combination that will contribute to an exquisite final product.
The tasting room is in the first floor of their home. Rudy and Viv’s wines have won many medals but they mostly love sharing the fruits of their labors with their customers. An intimate wine tasting gives you the chance to ask questions and decide which of their prizes will be coming home with you.
Vineyard tours and tastings can be arranged March thru December for a minimal fee which includes a souvenir Valentino Vineyards wine glass for everyone. Your coach can pull right inside the gate, park and everyone is just steps away from the vines and the tasting room. You’ll want to visit several times as each season creates a different environment for the tour whether it is planting, pruning, harvesting or celebration. You will come to appreciate the passion of wine-making and the satisfaction of creating a life and career, all in the quaint suburb of Long Grove, Illinois!
