Barrington & Beyond (Belief)!
The Sanfilippo Estate (Place de la Musique) in Barrington Hills has been a well-guarded secret in Northern Illinois for many years. This private home of the Sanfilippo family, owners of many companies including the Fisher Nut Company, has an extensive collection of musical instruments, antiques, full working carousel and the world’s largest pipe organ (8,000 pipes). The family has graciously arranged for tour groups to visit this immense collection. We have assisted tour planners by developing a two-day group tour package; rates start at $141 per person!

Richardson Adventure Farm announces new activities
The Richardson family of Spring Grove, IL opened their first corn maze in 2001. That 33-acre endeavor (imagine 25 adjacent football fields) quickly became the world’s largest maze. Groups from the adventure-loving to the easy-going types can find it at Richardson Adventure Farm. There are 11 miles of trails for all ranges of groups. After your adventure (or not) groups can sit around a campfire and roast hot dogs and make s’mores. Or the Richardsons can help cater your meal.
New this year: Zip Line & Zorbing! Soar over the mazes (and their other business – Christmas trees) on a 700-foot-long zip line. And if you’ve ever wanted to know what it’s like to be a hamster in one of those clear rolling balls, you can now. Zorbing is the newest adventure to hit America and Northern Illinois!
Want to be on the sidelines? The English Prairie Brewery LLC, a federally licensed micro-brewery, has sprouted up just in time for adults finding fun at RAF. The brewmaster is another family member offering Cream Ale, Irish Red and American Brown. The English Prairie label comes from the nearby English Prairie Road and the Richardson patriarch who emigrated from England in 1840 to homestead the prairie.
Stoney River Legendary Steaks offers group meals and cooking classes!
Much like a scenic view, you won’t find a Stoney River on every corner. Each restaurant has its own personality and reflects the uniqueness of the staff.
The Deerfield Stoney River offers group dining menus and cooking classes with Chef and General Manager, Jason Yuhasz. The restaurant is available for lunch and dinner for parties of 15 or more people. Luncheon menu selections range from light to gourmet with prices from $18.50 to $27.50 per guest. Jason will customize his cooking class (includes your meal) for $40 per person. If your group is into culinary tours, pair up your meal with ideas from our A Taste of Lake County itinerary to add to the experience.
