Bills Pub by: Jessica D.

If you want to have fun for the whole family and have great food, then Bill’s Pub is the place for you! Now I will tell you why.

First, Bill’s Pub has the most delicious home cooking you will ever taste. They have the best bacon cheese waffle fries. The fries are lathered in melted cheese and tender bacon bits. Yummy! Also, when you get to your table there is a big basket of peanuts, and you get to toss the shells right on the floor. But the best of all is the Bill’s Pub pizza (serving the best for over 50 years)! Any topping you choose are all great and the pizza is cooked fresh.

Next, the Bill’s Pub atmosphere makes it feel like you are in a log cabin in the middle of the woods. When you walk in you see all these real stuffed animals and everywhere you look you see something new. When you get to your table and order, the cooks and waiters make it so your food is there quickly. While you are waiting there is an arcade with a wide variety of games to play so you are sure to find one you love!

Lastly, the service makes the experience even more enjoyable, and I will tell you why. As I said before, the cooks makes your food fresh and the server gets it to your table very fast. Zzzip. Also, the waiters are happy to give you whatever you want, as long as it’s reasonable! In the summer you can eat outside on the patio.
Last but not least, even if you’ve never been to Bill’s Pub everyone is welcoming and are happy to see you. I think you should go to Bill’s Pub because they have great food, a fun atmosphere and welcoming service. Have a good time!

Keylime Cove Waterpark Resort

Last week I got the opportunity to tour the Keylime Cove Resort in Gurnee for the first time.  I was extremely impressed with all the amenities the resort had and I left wishing the resort had been around when I was a kid.

Growing up my family would often take an annual trip to the Wisconsin Dells in the winter to stay in one of the various indoor water park resorts there.  As much as I enjoyed our family trips to  Wisconsin Dells when I was younger, I would have rather skipped out on the long drive to stay at Key Lime Cove, which is a short twenty minute drive from my house and right next to Six Flags Great America!

Lost Paradise Indoor Waterpark

The atmosphere of the resort is inspired by the Florida Keys.  The bright tropical colors and island themed shops and restaurants instantly transported me to a warm sunny paradise.  With a full service spa, water park, arcade, and plenty of dining and shopping options there is something for the whole family to enjoy.

"Duval St." Shopping, Dining & Entertainment!

The 65,000 square foot indoor Lost Paradise Waterpark includes a lazy river, thrilling water slides, lagoon hot tub, kiddie pool and water playground!  During my tour I had a delicious lunch at the Crazy Toucan Bar and Grill.  The menu included a variety of island inspired dishes.  The prices were affordable and the food was excellent! I cant wait to book a weekend stay at Key Lime Cove so I can take advantage of all the amenities this tropical resort has to offer right here in Lake County!

Taste of Lincolnshire

As much as I love going downtown for the annual Taste of Chicago i’m just not sure if it’s worth it this year to endure the crowds when the taste of Lincolnshire is happening this weekend right here in Lake County.  This seems like the perfect opportunity to meet up with friends and family after work to enjoy a drink and sample dishes from local favorite restaurants.  Some restaurant vendors this year include: Egg Harbor Cafe, El Barrio, Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse, Luke’s of Mundelein, Eddie Merlot’s, Philly G’s, Smokin T’s and many more.  Besides tasting samples from some of my favorite restaurants I look forward to discovering new places to eat out. What better way to discover new potential dining options then getting a “taste” of the menu first.   With friends from out of town visiting this weekend this is the perfect opportunity to give them a “taste” of a variety of restaurants in the area instead of sticking to just one.

Taste Of Lincolnshire 2011

In addition to all the dining options there will be plenty of entertainment for the whole family. The Juke Box Band will kick off the celebration on Friday night at 5:30, followed by the Downhome Sophisticates.  Entertainment of Saturday will include a bag tournament, cooking demo, wine tasting, and of course live music.  To keep the kids busy there will be a bounce house, face painting and a clown show.  Every year the celebration seems to grown bigger and bigger.  With a packed entertainment schedule and so many excellent restaurants to choose from this Taste of Lincolnshire is sure to be the best yet!

Good Feed at the Silo

If you’ve driven down Rockland Road in Lake Bluff, just east of Waukegan Road, chances are you’ve noticed a unique building.  Resembling a ramshackle train depot with a giant grain silo, “The Silo,” is a spot where you’ll find good fodder for you and the whole family.

As the exterior would suggest, the interior is comfortable and casual.  The Silo has been a popular spot in the North Shore for decades, and the bustling and casual atmosphere make it the perfect spot for a meal with children.  Ask to be seated in the center of the first floor dining area, where a model train circles overhead.

The Silo serves American standards like burgers, pasta, sandwiches, ribs, etc. but they are best known for their pan pizza which is even available with a gluten-free crust.  Now I have to admit, I committed a sin on my first visit and didn’t try the pizza.  When I returned home from my lunch with the kids, my husband who has frequented The Silo for business lunches berated me.  Apparently, you should not make the same mistake either.  Their pizza has received many accolades, and not just from my disappointed husband.

I just love locally-owned, family-operated places that know how to cater to families.  For us the overall hustle and bustle of the restaurant and model train were enough to keep my young kids entertained.  But on Sunday nights from 5:00-8:00 pm, The Silo really makes it special for children when they feature BOZ the Magician.  Arrive early to make sure he can get to your table for balloon animals and magic tricks.

The Silo serves lunch and dinner 6 days a week and is open for dinner only on Sundays (see hours below.) Visit their website to print coupons before you go for extra savings.
