  1. Kick off the weekend by stopping by the Grayslake Summer Days, which starts tonight at 5pm and runs through Saturday between Center & Seymour Ave. in Grayslake. This family music festival offers carnival games, bingo, arts and crafts, food, a “Grayslake’s Got Talent” contest, bike and pet parade and much more. The live entertainment features Bella Cain tonight and 7th Heaven on Saturday night.
  1. Come out for an evening of art, music, theatre, film and dance at Waukegan’s monthly ArtWauk event happening this Saturday from 5pm-10pm in downtown Waukegan. Take a stroll down Genesee St. and visit the art galleries, grab a bite to eat, listen to music and enjoy the live entertainment. The Genesee Theatre will be showing the film, “National Lampoon’s Vacation” at 7:30pm on Saturday night.
  1. You don’t want to miss the 15th Annual Lincolnshire Art Festival this Saturday and Sunday from 10am – 5pm at the Village Green in Lincolnshire. The art festival will feature approximately 120 artists with some booths offering interactive art demos and chats. There will also be activities for the kids, including an art scavenger hunt to help make the festival a perfect family experience.
  1. More than 90 artists will be selling paintings, photography, sculpture, jewelry and more at Long Grove’s Annual Fine Arts & Wine Festival this Saturday and Sunday from 10am – 5pm.  Along with discovering great art, there will be live music and food both days to add to the enjoyment of this annual event.
  1. Swing by Miller’s Dog n Suds Drive In Saturday night between 5pm-10pm for their Classic Car Cruise Night. This event will feature pre-1973 hot rods, classics, custom and antique cars. Bring your dancing shoes and dance the night away to the sounds of the Lakes Area Swing Band, who will be playing music from the 40’s to today. Take pleasure in great food, homemade creamy root beer, great music and fun for the whole family.

  1. Take a leisurely stroll with your dog into the quaint shops of Mainstreet Libertyville during Libertyville’s Dog Days of Summer. This event is running all weekend with Cook Park being the center of activity. There will be a K-9 demonstration by the Lake County Sheriff’s department, a doggie fashion show, bands, a treasure hunt, prizes and much more. Friday night is also Mainstreet Libertyville’s First Friday celebration.
  1. Friday night is the 8th Annual Barrington Wine Tasting held at the Metra lot – Brat tent from 6pm – 10pm. There will be live musical entertainment, over 50 wines to taste, hors d’oeuvres and more. On Saturday in Downtown Barrington next to the Metra Station from 3pm – 7pm is Barrington’s 9th Annual Brew Fest. This event will include over 50 craft beers, live music, 50/50 raffle, a bean bag tournament and much more.
  1. Swing by Park North of Village Hall in Winthrop Harbor on Saturday from 6pm – 7:30pm and enjoy the sounds of the Great Lakes Navy Band. The Great Lakes Navy Band “Horizon” will play a mixture of classic rock, country, Motown, funk and jazz music.
  1. Stop by Northern Illinois’ largest Civil War reenactment this Saturday from 10am – 5pm and Sunday 9am – 3pm at the Lake County Discovery Museum’s 21st Annual Civil War Days. The event features infantry, cavalry and artillery reenactors, as well as musicians, sutlers, a large-scale battle renenactment, ongoing drills, kids’ activities and Civil War era shopping.
  1. View Hollywood and classic cars at the George Barris Car show at the Volo Auto Museum this Saturday from 10am – 5pm. You will see the Munsters Koach, hear live rockabilly music, a cookout and beer garden will also be available.
