This festival has pumpkins stacked to the sky. So get into the spirit with your friend Jack while holding a lantern and journey to Highwood for the Great Pumpkin Festival. Once again, the festival will be jam-packed with daily events, various food and drink vendors, a carnival, live tunes, hayrides, pony rides, pumpkin carving, massive pumpkin displays, nightly pumpkin lightings, a parade, Superhero 5K/10K and other festivities. The live entertainment includes Petty Kings, a Tom Petty cover band and an HGTV demo.

Get your motor running, blip the throttle and gear up for some racing. The Lake County Fairgrounds and Event Center hosts Jenneration MX Motocross Moto-Toberfest. Being right in the hotbed of the Midwest motocross scene, Jenneration MX is bringing in excitement for the whole family. On Friday and Saturday, the pits will open for trick-or-treating at intermission. View these talented, young daredevils as these bikers race at rapid speeds, and for this edition of the race series, some riders will be dressed in costume. The event showcases live tunes from former MX rider Tim Smith and the High Rollers.

What’s all of the hubbub happening in Deerfield? The village’s park district is hosting its annual Halloween Hoopla, and with the ongoing public health crisis, Deerfield parks and rec has split this spooky event into a four-part series. This weekend, the hoopla is highlighted by their Family Fun Fest at Jewett Park, featuring balloon twisters, Halloween-themed arts and crafts, airbrush tattoos and prepackaged Halloween treats. Other events include pumpkin decorating, haunted ceramics and a haunted hustle and monster dash (5K or a one-mile run – including a costume contest)

It's spooky season, so you don't want to get caught out in the wilderness alone...right? You and your crew can experience the Lake County Forest Preserve family tradition of Ryerson Conservation Area's Halloween Hikes in Riverwoods. Trek along a guided, candlelit path that offers nature-themed skits for the family. The hour-long hikes will be followed by donuts and cider in front of the fire. This program doesn't you the creeps, so preschoolers are welcome. Hikers are encouraged to wear a costume and hiking boots.

The Halloween-themed event will feature a haunted trail/house, pumpkin decorating, games, a live DJ, a bounce house, a gigantic slide, food trucks, laser tag, a photo booth and more. The community festival is suitable for all ages and is free to attend.

Visit Vernon Hills as the festival features family fun for all. Attendees will enjoy indoor trick or treating, balloon art, a black light dance party and the annual costume party. Register early as tickets go fast. Admission costs $3 per person, children ages two and under receive free entry.
